Changes
The current school term is winding down and there are two weeks of school holidays, not that it will mean much of a change to our daily life. That’s another topic altogether so I will save that for another post, especially as it is so late and I am tired and liable to make no sense at all.
I’ve decided that the Game Fanatic will no longer attend the homeschool science class. He hasn’t really made much progress and so I don’t think it is valuable enough to warrant dragging ourselves out on cold, wet Friday mornings next term. So our Fridays will be a lot freer. Actually that may not necessarily be so.
The dungeons and dragon’s group on Wednesday may be move to a different day. One of the many homeschool groups has a choir starting up on Wednesday and two parents would like their kids to attend. So the d&d group will likely move to either Friday afternoon or some time on Tuesday. The Game Fanatic isn’t all that keen about having a change but he will adjust, I am sure.
Personally, I like the idea of changing from Wednesdays as I am often out all day and then have to go out in the evening too. I am usually dead tired by the end of it. Yesterday was particularly rough because there was a psychology appointment for Lego Lover (and partially for the Game Fanatic) in the afternoon that kept us out quite late. I prefer to have the appointments the same day because the home where D&D takes place is much closer to the psychologist’s ocean view home/office than we are. It sames driving all that way another day of the week, which effectively kills another weekday.
Other positive news is that Lego Lover has agreed to take a robotics class for homeschoolers in fourth term (November) over four weeks. I think the Scientist may go along for that one, which I think would be great since that’s an interest they share. I don’t know how well he will cope with the other children but the fact he is willing to give it a try is very encouraging. I’ve booked his place and paid fees in advance to hold the space so we are all set for that one. The class is at Scitech, our local science museum/discovery centre/planetarium so we might all go as a family one of those times and visit the centre since we have a membership.

Joy!
Oo, robotics! That sounds like fun! And Dad time as a bonus. The Scitech also sounds neat.
I can sympathize with not wanting to take a whole day (or rather, more than one day) traveling about for appointments, etc. I try to save both time and gas money by consolidating trips to distant parts of the region, but I am not usually on anyone else’s schedule. If I go all the way to Chapel Hill for yoga, I try to also do some shopping there. It does get very tiring to be out for too long, though.
