Losing it?

Yesterday I went to fill a prescription for Lego Lover for medication he started two weeks ago. The pediatrician had given us trial packs at a lower dose and he is moving up to the regular dose now. It’s a restricted and uncommon medication so it shouldn’t really have surprised me when I went to fill it not long before the pharmacy closed to find they don’t keep it in stock. There was little to no chance of getting it filled so I agreed to have it ordered in. So Lego Lover missed a dose last night (the pharmacist said it should be fine to miss one dose).

The pharmacy didn’t phone about the medication until far into the afternoon so I completed a number of errands plus grocery shopping. Of course, the phone call came while I was out. I forced myself to use my bike for this errand since all the others had been by car. It was still daylight and reasonably warm so that worked out rather well. While I was in the shopping center I also stopped at the Asian grocery store to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, which are much cheaper than the regular supermarket. I also found peanut brittle and decided to try it for the first time in years. I ate a couple bites before I started home and it was quite tasty, being far less sweet than what I used to eat while growing up in the southern US. This version also has sesame seeds that I think offset a lot of the sweetness.

I started back home and reached a particular corner to wait for traffic to clear. I started across and was surprised by a car coming towards the intersection. It wasn’t so close that I was in danger but it was close enough to take me by surprise because I did look but somehow missed the vehicle. Anyway, I was already well across the road at that point. I found it rather strange, or perhaps disturbing, because I had a problem at the same spot earlier in the week. It was just around dusk and I had been riding towards the ramp to wait to cross and turned slightly but lost balance momentarily. I had nearly righted myself when I guess I overcompensated and nearly fell into the road but managed to stop myself and get off the bike to regain control. Fortunately there was no traffic at that time but I was ratttled for about half the ride home, which was uneventful.

I just recalled that on that previous night, I also managed to lose the padlock to the shed when I was locking up my bike. I took the padlock off, put the bike inside and went to lock and couldn’t find the padlock. I had to leave it unlocked for the night and went back to search the next day. It was obviously not wanting to be found so I ended up replacing it. So maybe I was still a bit rattled when I got home. Still doesn’t explain what happened to the padlock though. Today I had no such difficulties.
