Trouble with family

It’s a story very familiar but family on Facebook has been a big issue again. A couple nights ago I finally decided to block posts from my feed from a close family member. I’ve had to see posts for years and years about dislike, fear and hatred of Obama. Now it’s similar for other Democrats and then there’s the undying devotion to the current president.

This time it was a post that was mean and nasty to those of us who are against Trump and I tried to call this person out on it. Unfortunately it was turned into more moaning about how terribly this person has been treated when the focus of my comment was on the nastiness of the post. I finally decided I had to block posts for my own mental well-being. It makes me sad but I just can’t keep reading all the stuff that’s posted. So I responded to the post and said I was blocking this person’s posts. Last night I had responses not so much to that but to my taking personal offense at the post…which led to more ongoing discussion. And then somehow posts from almost two years ago were being resurrected in an attempt to show how I was being mean to the followers of the president. Which it wasn’t since I was only targeting the president and fellow politicians.

I really had to ponder that someone would have to go back two years to find something even remotely close to being the same. But it wasn’t. Two posts from two years ago came up, one of which related to the confirmation of Kavannaugh to the Supreme Court…it was actually more related to sexual assault and reasons people don’t come forward. But that had also been turned political and it was claimed the allegations were false when in fact that wasn’t proven. Sigh…

I can’t wait for the election to be over even though that really won’t be the end of it. I can only hope the current holder of the office of President leaves if he is voted out.

More hugs!! That sounds really stressful.

I am always surprised at how people who hold all the power and are in the majority can still find ways to feel persecuted, the way your family member did. Sigh….
