Return
As I write this, my mother-in-law is on her way home to Perth from overseas. Her flight is due in around 1:40am, about 25 minutes from now. Yes, I should be sleeping but I’ve had a run of really late nights and I am finding it hard to readjust to an earlier sleep time.
My father-in-law phoned from to say that she was on her way home and wanted me to make sure the scientist’s brother W was there to pick her up at the airport. He’s rather hard to reach at the best of times and today he had left his mobile phone at home. So I phoned him at work (he is at the same company as the scientist). This got rather confusing because the scientist had left work just before I received the phone call and I had to clarify to the boss who answered that it was his brother I needed rather than the scientist.
My MIL shouldn’t have a whole lot of luggage, which is a good thing because we have her car at our house. We borrowed it a week ago when our car was being repaired because I needed to get to an appointment. We haven’t used the car since but it’s sitting in our carport. Meanwhile our car is in the driveway and I can now appreciate the sun protection it gets in the carport. I guess we will take the car back tomorrow.
The reason for the sudden return of my MIL is that she has some severe eye problems recurring. She had the problem a while back and had improved but her doctor told her she needed to be seen as soon as possible if they recurred. I think this was related to a possible detached retina. So she is coming home.
